The main character of Dead Fury is an infected Jaxon, who must rely on short doses of antidote. while working for Daylin Hyst, leader of the Highway Raiders. Doc, an engineer in the camp, assists Jaxon with the day-to-day tasks the gang deals with the military - a deal fortunately negotiated by Doc's brother, a sergeant in the force. But when Daylin kills Doc's brother and the gang begins to expand their operations, Jaxon finds him caught in the middle of an all-out battle.

During its return journey to Earth from Mars, a probe that analyzed samples of life for biohazards notified mission control. The mission's principal scientist proposed aborting the mission, but the sponsoring corporation disagreed because of concerns about financial loss.
The principal scientist fought to prevent it but did not. possible, and in the final moments before landing back on Earth, he self-destructed the probe before it could land. Unfortunately, a powerful virus (Panspermia) quickly infects the globe, carrying water vapor high in the earth's atmosphere, and eventually infecting all of humanity.
